Hello, intrepid candidates for coronation! The Triple Crown of Exchanges fanwork challenge is back for Round 3 (2022-2023).
Triple Crown is a meta-challenge you can win by participating (with a sign up, as a pinch hitter, or with treats) in three different gift exchanges, each of which has a 10k fic/detailed art minimum:
- Five Figure Fanwork Exchange (

fffx) is long, with a five-month writing period from August 2022 to January 2023.
- Fic in a Box (ficinabox) is funky, with the ability to make multiple works in multiple media to complete an assignment. The creation period is approximately late August 2022 through October 2022.
- Heart Attack Exchange (highadrenalineexchange) is short, with a two-week writing period. Round 3 nominations open April 10 and the creation period is April 22-May 3 2023.
Important things to note for round 3
- highadrenalineexchange and fffx require comments on gifts for Triple Crown completion.
- In fffx, you can win Triple Crown with two or more pinch hit/treat gifts of 5k+ to different recipients.
- We will have an exciting pool of raffle prizes for Triple Crown winners and Triple Crown pinch hitters who completed 5k+ pinch hits. We'll announce prize specifics, including prize creators, in June 2023.

To win the Triple Crown of Exchanges, and become eligible for prizes (yay!) you must complete an assignment-equivalent amount of creation for all three of the Triple Crown exchanges: Five Figure Fanwork Exchange (FFFX), Fic In A Box (FIAB), and Heart Attack (HA).
- FFFX: Publish one 10k fic, two 5k fics, one 10-page comic, or two 5-page comics before the author reveals (March 12, 2023). Also, comment on all gifts you receive before you claim your Triple Crown prizes.
- FIAB: Publish 10k total of fic or 10k total of fic equivalent creations before the author reveals (December 4, 2022). For more information on exact equivalencies (e.g. how many words a sketch is worth), check out the exchange dreamwidth.
- HA: Publish one 10k fic or one 10-page comic before the author reveals (May 20, 2023). Also, comment on all gifts you receive before you claim your Triple Crown prizes.
If you are banned from any of the exchanges for a reason other than defaulting, you will not be eligible to win the Triple Crown.
"Don't be an asshole" applies: you may be disqualified from winning Triple Crown for spitefic, abusive conduct towards other participants, egregious placeholder(s), or other disruptive behavior determined at the discretion of the mod & the Triple Crown committee.

Everyone who wins Round 3 of the Triple Crown of Exchanges will be guaranteed a winner’s certificate, plus other prizes. Raffle tickets can be claimed to win bigger prizes. Our prize list will be announced in June 2023, but if you’re interested in what was offered last year, take a look at last year’s prizes.
All Triple Crown prizes are donated. If you are interested in creating a prize for Triple Crown Round Three, please read this post and fill out the Airtable form to indicate interest!
To claim your prizes, once the last event (Heart Attack) is over in May 2023, you will be able to fill out a form telling us which ones you would like and which raffle tickets you would like. We will then run the raffle drawing on the Triple Crown Discord so everyone can watch. After the drawing, we will distribute prizes & connect raffle creators with their recipients. There will be a check-in so that we can keep an eye on how prize fulfillment is going, and ultimately the deadline for prize creation and distribution is December 31, 2023.

Do I have to sign up to win the Triple Crown?
No. There are no Triple Crown signups, and you do not need to sign up for FFFX, FIAB, or HA to win the Triple Crown either. You can win on treats alone, or pinch hits alone, or a mix of both.
What if I defaulted on FFFX, FIAB, or HA last year?
Depending on how you defaulted last year, you may not be able to sign up for an exchange. (Check with mods if you’re not sure.) But you can pinch hit or treat to get your round 2 crown as long as you are otherwise in good standing with all exchanges!
“In good standing with all exchanges” means that you weren't banned from participating in any of the exchanges for a reason other than defaulting. Also, if you participated in Round One or Round Two of FFFX and got a gift, you need to comment on that gift.
What prizes will there be?
Certificates and stickers for sure. Anything beyond that, will be announced in June 2023. If you’re interested in the sorts of prizes that were available last year, take a look at last year’s prizes. The most popularly donated items are fic, art, fiber arts, but there’s all kinds of rare fun stuff too.
What happens if a prize maker experiences issues and can’t create their prize?
Sometimes prize creators have to default or withdraw their prizes. Unfortunately, we cannot offer replacement prizes for our donors, as those prizes are offered on a voluntary basis. We had a raffle prize completion rate around 75% for Round Two, and delivered all certificates and stickers to people who filled out their prize details.
Do I need to be on Discord to participate in 3c?
Not at all! We'd love to chat with you, but Discord is strictly optional for all 3c activities.
