The Triple Crown of 10k Exchanges

Hey everyone! We've reached the check-in period for the first round of Triple Crown (2020-2021). We have mailed out a check-in form to everyone who signed up for prizes in April.

Depending on what you signed up to do, you might see one (or two emails) in your inbox:

• A check-in form for prize creators, asking about how your progress is going on your 3c gifts. Prizes Creator check-in.
• A check-in form for prize recipients, asking about whether you've been in contact with your creator and if you've received your gift(s) yet. Prize Recipient check-in.

The check-in form will be open from August 16th to August 31st. The form is required for creators, optional for recipients. The information will be super helpful to us as mods and we would really appreciate it if you filled your form(s) out!

Some important notes!

1) We're just taking stock of where everyone's at right now. If you haven’t started yet, don’t worry – you’ve still got plenty of time! The deadline for prize delivery is 31 December 2021.

2) If you are a prize creator and have already delivered your prize(s) to your recipients, you don't have to check in. You can fill out the Completed Works survey here instead.

3) If you're withdrawing your prize(s) or your prize creator has withdrawn, let us know immediately. We will arrange pinch-hitters for prizes where we can, or we'll offer alternative prizes if we can't find a pinch-hitter for a specific prize type.

4) If you can't view the check-in, or you didn't receive an email, contact us ASAP and we will send the form again (or provide the form via another method if you can't access Airtable).

5) If you have fallen out of contact with your recipient or creator, and you are worried about the lack of communication, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at triplecrowncommittee@gmail.com.

6) Certificates were sent out to everyone who requested one in May. If you haven't received your certificate, please contact us and we'll resend it.

Below is a list of everyone who won the inaugural Triple Crown of Exchanges by completing Fic In A Box, Heart Attack, and Five Figure Fanwork Exchange. There's so many more winners than we expected to have, and we're so thrilled! In a way, the real prize for winning the Triple Crown is the 30,000 words the thirty comic pages the friends we made along the way!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in FFFX! Whether you signed up, served as a pinch hitter, contributed treats, or supported the exchange in any way, we hope that you had a magnificent time and that you're enjoying the bounty of longfic & comics!

Prize donors

Prize offering is now closed. If you offered a prize, please check your inbox (or your Discord DMs) and reply to our prize confirmation email so that we know you're still ready and willing to provide the prize you offered. If we don't get a confirmation reply before March 26, we will have to strike your prize from the list, and we really don't want to do that!

Triple Crown winners

On April 2, the finalized list of prizes will go up and prize claiming will begin. Most participants will be pre-verified because we will have a list of people who created qualifying works in all 3 events, but if your qualifying works were posted by more than one account, please keep an eye out for information about extra steps to claim prizes.

Schedule

• March 12: last day you can offer a new prize
• March 13: prize creators will be emailed to confirm their offers
• March 26: deadline by which prize creators need to confirm or withdraw their prizes
• April 2: Prize posts will go up, prize claiming will begin, & winners can sign up for raffles

Prize Claiming Update

Triple Crown winners will be verified, and they will only receive the prizes they claim.

For the raffle drawings, each person who enters a raffle will be assigned a number, and then a random number generator bot will pick the winner of each raffle on the Triple Crown raffle Discord server. You DO NOT have to be on the Discord to win; all raffle winners will be emailed. The Discord event is for transparency & fun.

There will be more concrete details about prize claiming forthcoming.

This prize post is now outdated. The final raffle prize post and all winners prize post will be available on March 26, 2021.

The Triple Crown, or winning three difficult races, is the most difficult achievement in the racing world. And we like to think that the Triple Crown of 10k Exchanges is a pretty big achievement too!

There are three exchanges with a 10k minimum:

• Five Figure Fanwork Exchange (FFFX, fffx) is long, with a five-month writing period.
• Heart Attack Exchange (HA, highadrenalineexchange) is short, with a two-week writing period.
• Fic in a Box (FIAB, ficinabox) Exchange is funky, with the ability to write more than one work to complete an assignment (more information at the FIAB DW comm once it's established).

To win the Triple Crown, you must participate in all three exchanges by publishing either an assignment, a pinch hit, or an assignment-length treat to each collection before its creator reveals.

Winners will be able to claim their win once the last exchange, FFFX, is over. They will receive fabulous prizes! Prizes include but are not limited to: icons, certificates, knitted creatures, and a raffle ticket to win a fic in any fandom of your choice.
